(Rhytidectomy)

As men and women age, the most visible signs of aging are seen in the face. These include “crow’s feet” near the eyes, forehead burrows, deep creases between the nose and mouth, a slack and jowly jaw line, and folds and fat deposits around the neck. A facelift can improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat and tightening underlying muscles.

The best candidate is someone whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined. Most facelift patients are in their 40s to 60s, but this procedure can also be performed on patients in their 70s or 80s as well. A good candidate for a facelift should also:

  • Have realistic expectations
  • Be physically healthy
  • Show signs of psychological stability

A personal consultation is the first step for every patient considering a facelift. During this meeting, Dr. Voloshin will assess your bone structure and the underlying facial tissues. The thickness, texture and elasticity of your skin, as well as the severity of wrinkles and folds will also be considered to give you the best results. Dr. Voloshin may explain additional procedures that can be performed with a facelift to meet your goals. In some cases, facial implants can be used in conjunction with a facelift to enhance the shape and balance of the face and chin. As a result, you’ll present a fresher, more youthful face to the world.
